Season Opener against Utah Fighing Irish

The season opener was exactly what we had expected a hard fought battle all the way through to the end. With the final score being Irish 20 Cobras 13 we were humbled and went back to the drawing board to once again tweak our game plan so we can capitalize on opportunities that we may get in our games.

The offense was able to move the ball when we were pinned deep in our own territory or in mid-field however once we got close to the end zone we failed to maintain that rhythm and punch it in for another 6 points. We had big runs by Toa and Sione that put us within the red zone on 2 separate occasions but the Irish defense was up to the challenge and were able to hold us.

The defense played a big hitting game as expected. We kept their running game at bay and held them to less than 50 yards on the day. We were able to disrupt the back field and cause QB Rocky May to roll out while in hot pursuit by our D-Line and Linebackers. They were able to find the rhythm that they needed in the final 3 min of the game where they drove down the field 98 yards for the go ahead and deciding score.

With this week off and several Key starters returning for our game on 4/24 at Uintah Basin we look to rebound in dominating fashion and will settle for nothing less.

We would like to congratulate the Irish on winning their first game as a team in the RMFL as they definitely had to earn it. We are definitely looking forward to our late season re-match which may or may not hold heavy play-off implications. Who knows?

Utah Cobras VS. Logan Stampede Pre-Season

The Utah Cobras had a strong showing against the RMFL AA defending champion Logan Stampede. As expected on our sidelines our defense came out firing on all cylinders and played the smash mouth football that we have been working towards. Unfortunately when the dust settled the Stampede did come out on top 25-14 due to some mis-cues and missed opprotunities.

We were pressuring inside Stampede territory with 3 min left in the game and were in 4 down territory but came up short on the Stampedes best defensive stand of the day which got them the win.  We are looking to ride this game and the momentum that we gained into our week one battle against division rivals in the Utah Fighting Irish which we expect is going to be a tough battle.

The Cobras would like to extend our gratitude to the Logan Stampede for hosting us on their home field and for playing a tough game all the way through to the end.

We will be praciticing on Wed from 6:00-Dark. Now that all the gear has been returned please come ready to hit and to work on the mis-cues and missed opprotunities from Sat to we can come away with a W this sat. We are also going to be having a team building activity on Thurs so please come to practice or watch the site for additional information regarding that.
